Fallout 4 USS Constitution Location And Quest Guide

Fallout 4 introduces players to a deeply atmospheric post-apocalyptic Commonwealth filled with memorable secrets and unique stories. Among the most iconic side adventures in the game is "The Last Voyage of the USS Constitution," a quest that blends history, quirky humor, and robotic loyalty. Finding this massive landmark and navigating its branching narrative offers players one of the finest role-playing experiences in the entire wasteland.
Finding the USS Constitution Location
The USS Constitution is an 1.18th-century heavy frigate that has been humorously modified with rocket engines and perched atop a bank building. To locate this impressive landmark, players need to explore the Charlestown district, which lies just southeast of Bunker Hill and north of the main ruins of Boston. The sight of a massive wooden warship lodged into concrete towers makes it exceptionally easy to spot from a distance as you wander through the urban ruins.
Approaching the structure triggers an encounter with a Lookout robot, who officially invites you to meet the commanding officer on deck. To board the vessel, players must navigate through the decaying interior of the bank building beneath it or use nearby scaffoldings. Reaching the main deck introduces the player to the eccentric Captain Ironsides, a uniquely sentient Sentry Bot determined to sail the ship back into the ocean.
Repairing the Historic Vessel
Initiating the quest lines you up with several engineering tasks delegated by the ship's mechanical crew members. Players will be asked to repair damaged power cables and replace a faulty power relay transmitter to get the ship systems online. Having a high Intelligence stat or investing points into the Science perk allows you to fix these components instantly using raw parts found inside the ship.
If your character lacks the technical knowledge, you will instead be sent to nearby scavenger outposts to retrieve replacement components manually. These excursions involve clearing out hostile raiders and navigating through close-quarters combat environments. Returning the necessary hardware keeps the vessel stable and prepares the unique crew for their imminent maritime launch.
Choosing Sides and the Final Launch
The turning point of the adventure forces you to decide between helping the loyal robot crew or aiding a nearby group of human scavengers. The scavengers want to dismantle the historic ship for valuable scrap metal, offering players a financial incentive to sabotage Captain Ironsides' plans. Siding with the robots preserves the integrity of the crew and rewards you with a unique heavy weapon known as the Broadsider.
Defending the ship from a massive scavenger assault serves as the final combat encounter before activating the primary launch switch on a nearby rooftop. Once triggered, the massive rocket boosters ignite in a spectacular display of wasteland engineering, driving the vessel forward into the skyline. While it does not quite reach the Atlantic Ocean, watching the ship crash onto another building remains one of the most unforgettable visual spectacles in the game.
